Tully Cathey, born in 1954, is a performer, teacher, arranger and composer of a
wide range of music, including classical, jazz and popular. He holds degrees in
music from The Mannes College of Music in NYC, and the University of Utah in
Salt Lake City. He has also studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and
USC in Los Angeles. He was director of the guitar program at the University of
Utah from 2007 until 2015, and taught music theory and guitar at Mannes
College and the University of Utah. He has composed numerous documentary
scores for PBS in Utah. He has performed with his own groups and with a
number of ensembles, including The Utah Symphony, The Sun Valley Summer
Symphony, Nova Chamber Music, Salt Lake City Jazz Orchestra, The Tully
Cathey Band, Terindo Jazz Quartet, The Mark Chaney Trio, and others.
